About Spencer Krause

Spencer Krause is the founder, president, and CEO of SKA Robotics, a Pittsburgh-based product development firm specializing in robotics and the interdisciplinary field of mechatronics, which combines mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to develop advanced systems that involve sensing, actuation, and control.

Spencer Krause has spent his entire career specializing in research and development. With more than 20 years of hands-on robot-building experience, Spencer has helped dozens of companies bring technically advanced products to market. Through his work at SKA, Formlogic, Joy Global, SpaceX, and Deeplocal, he has helped to deliver complex robotic systems to clients in numerous industries, including aerospace, construction, surgical, medical devices, life sciences, commercial cleaning, transportation, defense, manufacturing, heavy mining, entertainment, and more.

Spencer earned his Master’s Degree in Robotics Systems Development from Carnegie Mellon University, where he also worked as a visiting researcher in the Field Robotics Center following graduation. In his spare time, he enjoys mentoring students and aspiring professionals who are passionate about robotics, cooking, podcasting, public speaking, rock climbing, playing tennis, and world travel.
